Update: Good news. Caleb will start in the time trial on Friday !
Caleb Ewan didn't get a chance to sprint for a victory on stage 2 of Baloise Belgium Tour as the Australian hit the deck in a large crash in final parts of the stage. Luckily it seems that the Lotto Dstny rider escaped with just some bruises and will be able to continue the race.
"After an initial check, Caleb appears to have suffered some bruises, abrasions and a small swelling of the nerve," reads the first medical update from the ProTour formation. "At first glance, there are no visible fractures. Our medical staff will examine him further and if there are any additional updates, they will be communicated."
A few hours later, Lotto Dstny announced that the pocket rocket will start in Friday's time trial. So Ewan seems to have escaped more serious injuries and will try his luck in remaining stages.
