Paul Double is a rider that for many years has delivered strong performances but had thus far not won as a pro rider. This year he made his World Tour debut with Team Jayco AlUla and he has quickly taken his first triumph at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali.
The Briton attacked inside the final 3 kilometers on the hilltop finish to Sogliano al Rubicone, joining up with early attacker Lennart Jasch and quickly dropping him. He anticipated the main favourites, and then held his gap by a very small margin to the line, taking a brilliant win in the process. Jarno Widar sprinted to second place followed by Diego Ulissi.
