Jan Tratnik will be at the start of the Vuelta a Espana this Saturday and that is already a miracle in itself. The Slovenian from Jumbo-Visma suffered a nasty knee injury in a fall just before the Giro d'Italia, but after a considerable rehabilitation, he still fought for the start in Spain. And Primoz Roglic's compatriot is proud of that.
Through his blog, Tratnik, who also rode the Vuelta a Burgos, gives a glimpse into the process. "Being at the start is already quite an achievement for me. We have an extremely strong team and being allowed to ride says a lot about the confidence the team has in me. I am extremely grateful that I can pin my number on at all in Barcelona. Vamos!"
"When I was allowed to race in Burgos, I was quite nervous. Fortunately, I got back into the rhythm pretty quickly, because after such a long break everything is different," says Tratnik. "After an accident like what I've been through, you always think of the worst case scenario. Burgos has given me the last helping hand. In the team time trial I felt very good, but there were also days when it was a bit worse. However, I gave everything to help Primoz win the race."
