Thanks to your votes, UAE Team Emirates have been named the 2024 Team of the Year as part of the CyclingUpToDate End of Season Awards after a landslide victory in our recent poll.
In the most dominant vote of our current awards season so far, UAE Team Emirates took the vast majority of the votes from you, dominantly emerging victorious ahead of the second placed finishers Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, with Team SD Worx - Protime and Alpecin-Deceuninck tied for the final spot on the podium.
Always the more than likely choice for victory, UAE Team Emirates came incredibly close to breaking the all-time record for most victories by one team in a calendar year in 2024. Standout performances from team leader Tadej Pogacar, gave the team a pair of Grand Tour triumphs at the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France, plus a pair of monument victories at Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Il Lombardia. More than just Pogacar though, Tim Wellens took the GC at the Renewi Tour, Adam Yates at the Tour de Suisse and Juan Ayuso at the Itzulia Basque Country. Marc Hirschi dominated the end of season one-day races too as almost everyone on the roster chipped in.
This told in the voting too as UAE Team Emirates took a massive total of 75% of the total voting haul. Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team were a distant second place at just 12%, whilst Team SD Worx - Protime (8%), Alpecin-Deceuninck (8%) and Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe (3%) split the remainder of the votes.
