Arnaud De Lie wins third stage of the Tour de Wallonie

Lotto–Soudal rider Arnaud De Lie won the third stage of the Tour de Wallonie. He defeated Biniam Girmay in the sprint to secure the stage victory.

A group of twenty riders, including Biniam Girmay, tried to create some gap early in the stage but remained unsuccessful . But after the first intermediate sprint, some riders including Matteo Trentin, Jorge Arcas, Ben Healy, Casper Pedersen, Jake Stewart, Ivo Oliveira, and Stan Van Tricht, managed to distance themselves from the peloton.

They enjoyed the lead of three minutes for some time, but the peloton was catching up. Lead decreased to 1 minute 60 kilometers before the finish line. In the final kilometers, the peloton caught them, and it was sprint time. Kévin Vauquelin launched an early attack but couldn’t hold the lead for a long time. De Lie won the sprint and secured the victory. Girmay tried to counter De Lie but failed and secured silver. Axel Laurance finished third. Robert Stannard is the overall leader in the GC.
