Arnaud de Lie has returned to his winning ways, taking the fourth triumph of the season at the Grote Prijs Marcel Kint, and taking more important points for Lotto Soudal who are attempting to stay at World Tour level.
“Yes, maybe that was my best sprint of the season. But that's thanks to the team. The lead-out was perfect today," de Lie said in a post-race interview. The 20-year old is a neo-pro, however is currently the rider who has brought a very meaningful amount of points towards the Belgian team's tally.
“I had an incredibly good feeling today. We did everything we could to make the race as hard as possible and we succeeded. After the different climbs, we aimed for a sprint with the reduced group. That turned out perfectly for us," he added.
Whilst Caleb Ewan will focus on the Tour de France, de Lie has been focusing on the Belgian semi-classics where he's not only been very successful, but also proven to be more than just a sprinter. Over the next few weeks he will have more opportunities to win, and he will likely follow a sharp period of racing until the national championships.
