After a thrilling race,
Wout Van Aert won the
Bretagne Classic.
Lotto Soudal rider
Arnaud De Lie had a chance to win, but he finished fourth in the end.
"Maybe we made a small mistake to be in front a bit too early," said De Lie. He continues, "On the other hand, I didn't launch my sprint too early, but with the uphill finish and the headwind, I was still dismounted at the very end. I was close to the podium and maybe even the win, so this fourth place is obviously satisfying."
Though satisfied with his result, he hoped for a better finish. "But if you can sprint for the win, you obviously want more. The legs felt relatively good for the sprint, and the team gave me a good start. After Gent-Wevelgem, this is only my second race of such a long distance. The fact that there is already a result makes me very happy,” said De Lie.
He looks forward to riding in Grand Prix de Fourmies along with his teammates and hopes to continue with his performance."The team did a great job again today, and I am happy that I can reward them with this fourth place for their hard work. This is another boost towards my next race: GP Fourmies," De Lie concluded.
