Arnaud De Lie confirmed to return at Belgian national championships

For the first time since crashing out of the 4 Jours de Dunkerque, Arnaud De Lie will be back in action at the Belgian national championships it has been confirmed by his team, Lotto Dstny.

"Arnaud De Lie will take part in the Belgian road race championships in Izegem this Sunday. However, the Lotto Dstny rider will not start as the leader of the team," an update posted to their official website has revealed. "He primarily wants to help his teammates in the battle for the Belgian tricolour."

“Arnaud will start without any stress”, says the team's sports manager Kurt Van de Wouwer. "He knows he’s not 100% yet but he especially wants to be at the Belgian championships to contribute to the team. To pin on a race number again, will give him a big mental boost after a long period without racing. Arnaud is not thinking about the title, he just wants to race and help the team where he can so he can leave to the Livigno altitude training camp with a good feeling.”

The injuries suffered by the 21-year-old Belgian were numerous including a fractured collarbone, fractured rib(s) and a fractured sternum. As such seeing De Lie back on a bike and competing in big races will be a great sight to see.
