The 2021 Ukrainian national road race champion,
Andrii Ponomar and
Team Arkéa Samsic have reached a mutual agreement to part ways with immediate effect.
"The Arkéa-Samsic team and Andrii Ponomar have by mutual agreement terminated the contract that bound them so that the young Ukrainian rider can join a professional transalpine cycling team," reads an official announcement on the team's website. "Italian has been for years the second language of Andrii, this country his home since the birth of the conflict between his country and Russia."
"His mother and his sister live in Italy, which will allow Andrii to be even closer to them," Arkea Samsic's announcement continues. "Thanks to Andrii, who is a very nice person, for these few months spent in our company, for his constant good humour despite the geo-political context that he and his family have been enduring for months."
With the cycling transfer window now open as of August 1st, Ponomar has some time to try and find a suitable next move for him as the promising 20-year-old looks to continue his budding career.
