It's actually normal. Most pro riders train alone. This is because each rider has their own training programme so it's difficult to be riding together e.g. if one is doing a Zone 2 ride and another is doing intervals.

But he took his anger out on an amateur rider who simply offered his help. That rider said that he understood Jonas's anger, but that says a lot about how kind and humble the rider is.

Chris Horner’s opinion is valid and shouldn’t be dismissed just because he’s allegedly a doper. His opinions have sound judgement and definitely make sense to me. I prefer his opinions to others who haven’t raced in their life!!

Having trained on French roads for hours without pro riders in vicinity, yet seeing them near the end of rides in passing, it must be said this story is lacking context details. Public roads are for the public. If teams wish for private access, they should get permits for road closures. Otherwise, hire sweeper riders to shadow the pros and discuss rules of the road with non-team riders who are sharing the roads.

Perhaps they were closer to start with? But the rider who simply offered his help was gracious about Jonas reacting with annoyance to him.

I watched the video on Twitter (X): the amateur cyclist was not on his wheel; at all. There was more than 100-150 meters between them. Maybe Jonas overreacted?
