Germany's Franziska Brausse has been crowned the Women's Individual Pursuit world champion after victory over New Zealand's Bryony Botha at the UCI Track World Championships in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France.
With Great Britain's Josie Knight picking up bronze in a thrilling race with the German, Mieke Kroger, Franziska Brausse came to the track looking to make sure it wasn't a double disappointment for Germany against New Zealand's Bryony Botha.
Brausse went out all guns blazing from the gun and the big question was, had she gone off too quick? Would she be burnt out by the races end? The answer was no. Despite a brilliant effort from Botha, Brausse managed to hold on to claim victory and the rainbow jersey.
After bronze in Berlin 2020 and silver in Roubaix 2021, Franziska Brausse has now finally won gold and completed the set of medals.
