We previously informed about the impressive
marathon result for ex-pro Nacer Bouhanni but
Bart Lemmen took things to another level when he appeared at the start of his home 10-kilometre race Startbaan Run.
Lemmen, who was a soldier in the Dutch Army before taking on a career of a professional cyclist, competed in his first Grand Tour (Tour de France) this summer on the behalf of Visma | Lease a Bike.
Last Sunday, he took part in Startbaan Run - a 10-kilometre race held at the former Soesterberg air base, the cyclist's hometown. And as is expected of the "Bees", the Dutch cyclist didn't come with little ambitions. Lemmen finished third in the race with a time of 33:38 and a pace of 3:21 per kilometre, according to the activity on his Strava account.
In a post on Instagram, Lemmen was very pleased with his performance in the race. "Running is fun. Great atmosphere at the Startbaan Run in my hometown, Soesterberg. Third place for me but very happy with my pace." A performance that Lemmen also hopes to demonstrate on the bike when the season starts.
