"A day we will cherish for the rest of our lives": Lotte Kopecky and Axel Merckx announce their marriage to the world!

The secret is out! Lotte Kopecky and Axel Merckx have shared their marriage with the world after two weeks of speculations sparked by reports of Belgian media. The pair have shared pictures from their wedding ceremony held last Saturday.

"A day we will cherish for the rest of our lives," Lotte shared the happy moment with fans via Instagram. "Thank you everyone for being part of this beautiful day. We were super happy to share our journey with all of you."

The star couple have been dating since the end of last year. Lotte Kopecky is a two-time road world champion, has won many of the biggest classics in women's peloton and has extensive track palmares.

Kopecky stressed on multiple occasions how the relationship with Axel helped her deal with stress after a disastrous 2025 season marked by repeazing health struggles.

Axel Merckx, the son of legendary Eddy Merckx, had a successful professional career in 1990s and 2000s, winning a Giro d'Italia stage in 2000 and riding to a bronze medal at Athens Olympics 2004.

After his active career, Axel Merkcx founded a successful development structure currently known as Hagens Berman Jayco, alma mater to multiple household names of cycling peloton such as Jasper Stuyven, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Jhonatan Narváez, Joao Almeida or Jasper Philipsen.

He has two daughters from his previous marriage with former Canadian triathlete Jodi Cross.
