Mountain biker Emily Batty retires from professional cycling

Emily Batty announced her retirement from a successful professional racing career in cross-country mountain biking that included bronze medal at the World Championships in Nové Mesto (2016) and Lenzerheide (2018).

Batty represented her country at Olympic Games in London 2012 and Rio 2016, where she came fourth.

The Canadian last started in a World Cup event last year in Val di Sole, September 4, finishing deep within the field, 31st.

"The passion, determination and experiences that fueled my athletic career will undoubtedly propel me forward into this next phase of my life," she says in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
