For many, the cyclocross World Championships are the final destination of a winter cyclocross as we the focus quickly switches back to road. But that's not the case for returning Toon Aerts.
"No one will be as excited as I am at the start of the last 3 cyclo-cross races." After 2 years on the penalty bench, Aerts can finally pin his shirt number again on Saturday, February 17.
Aerts celebrates his comeback in Sint-Niklaas and is also present in Brussels and Oostmalle. A cyclocross season that lasts 1 week for him. "But those three cyclo-cross races are extremely important to me," he sounds enthusiastic and ambitious.
Aerts initially hopes to collect points to get a better starting row. Because due to his inactivity over the past 2 years, he starts at the back of the pack. "So I won't be competing for the win from my first cross, although I secretly hope so."
