Team SD Worx's Hungarian star, Kata Blanka Vas will make her long-awaited return to action at the X2O Trofee in Kortrijk on Saturday, 25th of November, following a lengthy injury lay-off.
"I'm not expecting anything and that's only realistic since she broke her collarbone a little over a month ago," says Team SD Worx's sports director, Lars Boom. "Fortunately, she was able to undergo surgery immediately in Herentals the same evening. After that, she immediately started fanatically doing exercises for recovery, as well as core-training. So she built up a lot of strength in her upper body, to cope with the shocks."
Despite trying to lower expectations, having seen the 22-year-old complete a two-hour training session on the crosses on Wednesday, Boom is nevertheless impressed by the level's Vas has shown already.
"In my opinion, she still has a very high level. But she naturally lacks rhythm. She has to find this back now," Boom analyses. "In Kortrijk, she just has to get a feeling with cross again. It is a technical course. That should suit her. But we should not panic when Puck Pieterse and Fem van Empel ride away from her. She is just starting over and there are still a lot of crosses to come."
