Joris Nieuwenhuis has taken a supreme, solo victory at Superprestige Boom. Having led throughout, the Baloise - Trek Lions star put in a very impressive performance.
Racing into an early lead, Joris Nieuwenhuis was really putting pressure on his rivals in the first couple of laps. Cameron Mason was leading the charge behind, but with three laps down, the gap was up to 7 seconds. Although Mason was comfortably riding away from the rest of the field, the gap between the two leaders was relatively stable.
As the battle for the third spot on the podium intensified, Eli Iserbyt, Niels Vandeputte and Michael Vanthourenhout were competing closely for that third spot. Up front though, Nieuwenhuis looked not to be caught and as the penultimate lap started, the Dutchman had begun to finally get out of Mason's sight and that was how things remained, with Eli Iserbyt winning the battle for third spot.
