Christine Majerus will be back in action this weekend in Luxembourg's Diekirch. It can be hardly called Majerus' first cyclocross experience, although she hasn't been a regular visitor in the fields lately. The 36-year-old rider from Luxembourg, who is eleven-time national champion in cyclocross, rode her last cross on January 8, 2022 and will make her return on November 18, 2023.
Majerus, who made the news after the World Cycling Championships in Glasgow with her strikingly critical statements towards Shimano's support vehicles, had to ignore the previous cyclo-cross winter completely. "I'm looking forward to adding a few races here and there to my training this winter, starting this Saturday," she said on her Instagram.
"If everything goes smoothly and training goes well, I might add the bigger events in December and January," she continues. "I feel a mix of nervousness and enthusiasm to start racing again."
Logically, the veteran cannot say much about what shape she will be in at the start of the cyclocross in Diekirch. "My last CX race was a long time ago, so I have absolutely no idea how it will go. But I know that it will benefit me anyway in my preparation for the road and that it will be more fun than going to the gym," she concludes by emphasizing her love for the discipline.
