"We win a stage, fight for the mountain jersey, and finish in the top 10 in GC" - Ivan Basso about Polti Kometa's big goals for Giro d'Italia

Three years ago, Team Polti Kometa (then EOLO-Kometa) entered their first Grand Tour with a bang, with Lorenzo Fortunato on iconic Monte Zoncolan. Last year, Davide Bais added another victory. The Italian ProTeam believes they can add number three in four years, with a well-rounded selection of riders.

Sports director Ivan Basso, who won the Giro twice, is particularly clear about team's ambitions. "We deliver convincing performances, we can always compete with the WorldTour teams, and we present ourselves with a well-prepared lineup. We have riders of all ages and types. Many have ridden the Giro before and some are making their debut, a mix that enables us to compete for precise objectives."

"It's not enough for us to just do well in general. We want to race the right way, win a third stage in four years, fight for the mountain jersey, and finish in the top ten in the general classification," he tells IDLProCycling.
