Tom Pidcock has been quite unlucky at Milano-Sanremo over the years, as he was forced to abandon the race in 2022 and in 2023 he was unable to race due to illness. Previously, in his first participation in 2021, he finished 15th. Going into this year’s race, the INEOS Grenadiers rider will be hoping for a better result.
In an interview with Philippe Gilbert for Eurosport ahead of the race, he said “I feel great, I’m looking forward to it, last year I couldn’t even start, two years ago I was sick and couldn't finish, I'm looking forward to racing today”.
When asked about his tactics given how good a descender he is, Pidock was clear that UAE Team Emirates is going to make the climb very hard for Tadej Pogacar, as he said “a little bit of both, the climb is simple you just have to keep going to the end, we know UAE is going to make it as hard as possible, that's their tactic, that’s the only way Tadej has to win”.
