Mads Pedersen continued his blistering start to the season in the prologue of the Tour de la Provence on Thursday afternoon in France. The Lidl-Trek star took the win ahead of teammate, Jakob Söderqvist.
“It went very well, this is a good start to the race,” reflected Pedersen, who last week took overall victory at the Etoile de Bessèges, in his post-stage interview. “I think we can be happy with me in first place and Jakob in second place. It's a beautiful day."
With three more stages to follow in the coming days and with confidence understandably flowing within Pedersen, the 28-year-old is favourite to add another general classification to his triumph by the end of the week.
“Tomorrow is another stage. It looks like it's going to rain and it can get quite heavy, with a lot of uphill and downhill. Of course we are going for another victory. We have a strong team here and we must definitely go for the win. That's why we're here,” assesses Pedersen of his chances.
