Vuelta a Espana 2026 Classifications Update Stage 7 - Wout van Aert takes Green to end Tadej Pogacar’s triple-jersey reign as Slovenian extends commanding GC lead

The first red jersey of the 2026 Vuelta a Espana will be decided immediately in Monaco, where a 9.4-kilometre individual time trial opens a race featuring more than 58,000 metres of climbing, repeated summit finishes and a second race against the clock later in the final week.
This live classifications hub will be updated after every stage with the latest General Classification, Points Classification, Mountains Classification and Best Young Rider standings, tracking the fight for the red, green, polka-dot and white jerseys from Stage 1 on August 22 through to the final stage in Granada on September 13.
The overall battle will be shaped by repeated opportunities for the climbers, from the early Pyrenean and Andorran tests to Calar Alto, Sierra de la Pandera, Penas Blancas and the decisive Collado del Alguacil. The two individual time trials and bonus seconds provide further chances for the gaps between the main contenders to change.
Sprint finishes and intermediate sprints will drive the points competition, breakaways can quickly transform the mountains standings and the white jersey will develop alongside many of the same stages that decide the general classification. Each update will show the latest standings after the day's racing and highlight the important changes across all four competitions.

Pogacar strengthened his grip on red with another late attack, extending his advantage over Mas from 3:34 to 3:50. Roglic remains third at 4:50, but Gall was the strongest of the podium challengers and climbed to fourth, only 11 seconds behind the four-time winner.
Kuss moved into fifth, with Onley just one second behind him in sixth, while Carapaz fell three places to seventh after losing ground near the summit. Skjelmose and Tejada each gained a position, Mühlberger entered the top 10 and Omrzel rose to 11th, while Ramses Debruyne dropped out following his difficult final climb.

Points Classification Standings after Stage 7
Van Aert’s day-long attack delivered the green jersey despite missing the stage victory. Maximum points at the intermediate sprint and third place at Aramon Valdelinares lifted him to 104 points, two ahead of Pogacar.
Brennan remains third on 60, giving Team Visma | Lease a Bike three riders inside the top five. Uno-X’s one-two transformed their position in the classification, with Johannessen climbing 20 places to sixth on 45 points and stage winner Leknessund entering the top 10 on 30.

King of the Mountains Classification Standings after Stage 7
Pogacar retained the mountains jersey on 29 points, but Leknessund emerged as his closest challenger after collecting points throughout the breakaway and winning the summit finish, moving directly into second on 19.
Van Aert also entered the top five on 13 after leading across two climbs, while Johannessen and Lutsenko joined the top 10. Mas slipped to third without adding to his total.

Youth Classification Standings after Stage 7
Onley retained the white jersey, but the riders behind him changed substantially. Omrzel used the breakaway to climb from fourth to second, reducing his deficit to 3:48, while Bisiaux rose into third at 6:07. Widar slipped to fourth after another difficult mountain stage, while overnight challenger Debruyne dropped completely out of the top 5. Pickering completed the new top five at 8:48.
