Simone Velasco has been crowned the Italian National champion, taking victory in a thrilling sprint to the line that saw the Astana Qazaqstan Team rider secure the biggest win of his career to date.
The 27-year-old entered the final kilometre in a reduced bunch alongside the likes of Matteo Trentin, Davide Formolo and Filippo Magli. Once Velasco kicked however there was no stopping him.
