Santiago Buitrago perfectly prepared his final attack to win the queen stage of the Giro d'Italia. The Colombian was some 10 meters from Derek Gee for several minutes until he saw the ideal moment to conceal an attack against which the Canadian could do nothing.
Sensational victory for the Bahrain Victorious rider in a stage that was not exciting among the men in the general classification, but among the escapees, who offered a beautiful spectacle.
