Richard Carapaz has achieved a great victory in the Mercan'Tour Classic in his return to competition with his sights set on the Tour de France. The Ecuadorian was the strongest man in the French mountain race and did not fail to meet the odds.
The EF Education EasyPost rider launched a massive attack just under 7 kilometers from the finish line that none of his breakaway companions could respond to. Felix Gall was the closest, but he didn't have the legs to catch him and Carapaz soloed to the finish line.
