Mattias Skjelmose has taken a brilliant victory on stage 3 of the Tour de Suisse, firstly following an attack by Remco Evenepoel and then dropping the Belgian and Felix Gall to take the win.
Evenepoel had attacked relatively early in the final climb with over 6km still to go. Only Skjelmose and Gall were able to follow but as the rest of the GC riders began to close the gap, Skjelmose and Gall decided to attack their more illustrious counterpart. In the final few hundred metres, it was the Trek - Segafredo rider who proved to have more left in the tank. Powering past Gall and taking the double victory of stage win and overall race lead.
