One of the modern peloton's leading stars, Mathieu van der Poel is a former world champion, six-time Monument winner and a two-time Grand Tour stage winner. Just how much faster is he compared to an average YouTuber though? Artem Shcherbyna recently put this to the test.
Shcherbyna, who has previously done videos featuring the likes of Jonas Vingegaard and Tom Pidcock among others, has amassed over 30,000 followers on his YouTube account. As mentioned, in one of his latest posts, he travels to Calpe, Spain in order to join Alpecin-Deceuninck star Van der Poel and former teammate Sjoerd Bax among others, on one of the Dutch star's regular training climbs.
In answer to our original question of 'How long can YouTuber last alongside Mathieu van der Poel in training?' The answer is: Not very long! Despite not being renowned as one of the greatest climbers in the peloton, Van der Poel quickly has the Ukrainian YouTuber in difficulty and struggling to hold the back wheel.
As Van der Poel's watts then crest over the 600 mark, Shcherbyna is then forced to finally let the former world champion go for good as Van der Poel accelerates off into the distance.
