Tao Geoghegan Hart is looking to return to the top of world cycling after a serious injury in 2023, following a crash in the Giro d'Italia, and a very lackluster 2024, with only a top 10 overall finish in the Tour of Romandy. This season, the 2020 Giro champion will start at the Volta ao Algarve, but he hasn't revealed the rest of his schedule yet.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Geoghegan Hart revealed to his fans that he will be starting his season in Portugal, at the Volta ao Algarve, "One month to go until I start my season in beautiful Portugal," he revealed. He joins a star-studded field including the likes of Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert, Primoz Roglic, João Almeida and many more that will take part in the five-day long stage-race.
For the time being, the British rider's team, Lidl-Trek, has not yet confirmed any more riders, who have finished three times on the top 10 in the last seven years, always with Bauke Mollema. What has been confirmed by the organization is Lidl-Trek's participation in the Figueira Champions Classic, where Hart could also potentially participate in days before the 'Algarvia'. The American team has taken part in both editions of the race and the best result was a 5th place by Natnael Tesfatsion in 2022.
