The general classification riders faced their first true test of the race on Stage 2 of the 2024 Criterium du Dauphine. Ultimately,
Magnus Cort Nielsen prevailed over
Primoz Roglic and
Matteo Jorgenson, stepping out through the mist and fog at the finish line.
It was a truly thrilling finale however, as
Bruno Armirail, who had spent the entirety of the stage in the breakaway lasted all the way until just 200m to go before being caught by a reduced bunch who left it late, but in the end timed the catch to perfection. With all said and done, Magnus Cort Nielsen is now into the Maillot Jaune, with Primoz Roglic and Matteo completing the top-3 as was the stage finale. Thanks to his efforts during the day however, Armirail is up to 4th in the GC. Catch up on all the highlights, or rewatch all of the action from a dramatic day of racing in the video down below!
