Nicolas Prodhomme has won the queen stage of
La Route d'Occitanie and today he has confirmed the overall win with a confident ride. Stage 4 of the race was won by
Thibaud Gruel of
Groupama - FDJ in a reduced bunch sprint.
The final stage of the race in the Pyrenees featured three difficult climbs and it was not ridden easily, with the latter being used for attacks from Davide Piganzoli and with the GC men leading the race and fully in the picture.
However the short distance of the ascent didn't allow for large gaps to build and ultimately groups would be coming back together on the flat finale into Saint-Girons. Between the riders who survived the sprint, it was Thibaud Gruel who sprinted to victory ahead of
Andrea Vendrame.
