Victory for Egan Bernal and INEOS Grenadiers! Colombian becomes road national champion

Egan Bernal is on a roll! The Colombian rider hadn't won since the 2021 Giro d'Italia until this week, for the first time since his life-threatening crash, he took a win at the Colombian time-trial national championships. Perhaps more importantly, the INEOS Grenadiers now also won the road race and will be showing off the country's colours throughout the entire 2025 season.
Bernal was the strongest today in the race that had it's finale in Bucamaranga. After 237 kilometers, the INEOS rider was the first to cross the line, by himself. This followed a tremendous work from his teammate Brandon Rivera. Bernal joined up with Diego Camargo, but inside the final 10 kilometers he dropped his rival to celebrate in a road race for the first time in three years and a half! Camargo and Kevin David Castillo completed the podium.

- This sort of communication can be taken offline. He has Tadej's contact. Tadej rode with his son. I don't see any instance where Tadej showed lack of humility. If he meant Tadej not going all out, then it's his perception. You know what I think is lack of humility? Delivering more crushing blow than necessary after your opponent is at his limit, like the way the German football team did to Brazil. It's good for spectators though. But, that's just my perception.

- I liked the way Del Toro raced, attractive and humble, up till the last day, where he should have gone for it. 2nd or 3rd they both are podiums and nobody remembers who was what. Carapaz was leading the ascent, he should have lead the descent, that would have been a fantastic deal, considering he had most to lose. But he wanted more.JoostMehrtens17-06-2025
