Valerio Conti reinforces Italian continental team

Valerio Conti has been recruited by Team Corratec, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. It has only been racing on continental level for this year, but it has already applied for a ProTeam license.

The Italian competed for Astana Qazaqstan this year. Prior to this, he rode for the UAE Emirates and Lampre Merida. The Italian rider has won a stage in the Vuelta a Espana, the Trofeo Matteotti and the Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli throughout his career, with a lengthy stint in pink at the 2019 Giro d'Italia as a major achievement. The last few seasons have been difficult for him.

Additionally, his arrival will help establish the team as a Proteam with a rider who cannot be underestimated. "We are looking at young talents and some interesting foreign riders. With a bigger budget, we also want to attract experienced riders," sport director Francesco Frassi told Tuttobiciweb.

Conti arrival will also help team in absence of Dusan Rajovic who is joining Bahrain Victorious next season. "All sponsors remain on board and even increase the budget, making it possible for us to make the step to a higher level,” concluded Frassi.
