The cycling world has been shaken by shocking news. The Spanish legend, Oscar Freire, is unaccounted for. At the time being the whereabouts of the Spaniard are unknown and this is raising serious concerns over his current status.
His family has reported his disappearance to the Guardia Civil on Wednesday. The information, advanced by El Diario Montañés, says that Freire has not been heard from since Tuesday. Reportedly, the 48-year-old former rider would have abandoned his home, where he left all his personal belongings, and his vehicle has been found with no sign of Freire. For now, the Guardia Civil's investigation has not yet given results.
Recently, Freire was - together with Alejandro Valverde - being considered for the position of Spanish national team coach, but the position will ultimately be filled by Valverde. More updates are to follow soon.
Freire has been found, and reportedly he voluntarily left home without his belongings. He disappeared on Monday and his odd disappearance led to his family reporting to the police the disappearance, taking into consideration he had no phone, wallet or anything with him. It has been corrected that he was not with his vehicle, but did so by foot.
