The rumours had been circulating for a while, and today Trek - Segafredo have confirmed the signing of young Eritrean puncheur Natnael Tesfatsion.
Trek had been in contact with the 23-year old already for some time, and the deal had been given as a certain several weeks ago. Tesfatsion will be moving into Trek - Segafredo for two seasons where he will surely become part of the team's classics block and punchy races, much to the similarity of his compatriot Biniam Girmay.
Tesfatsion has already shown in the last few years a lot of talent, specially in the hilly races. He has gone up the ranks within the former Qhubeka team's development structures, and has these two past seasons raced for Drone Hopper - Androni Giocattoli, where the Italian calendar fit him like a glove.
Tesfatsion is a two-time winner of the Tour du Rwanda. This year he has not only won close to home, but has also won a stage at Adriatica Ionica Race and finished second in the overall classification. He has also finished second at the Giro dell'Appennino, andhas finished the Top10 of several other one-day and stage-races.
