Tour de France 2025 GC Update: Thrilling stage 4 finale sees Tadej Pogacar & Mathieu van der Poel tied for time at the top

In an absolutely spectacular finale to stage 4 at the 2025 Tour de France, the stars of the race came out to play once again. Tadej Pogacar prevailed, taking the 100th pro win of his career, but it wasn't quite enough to wrestle the Maillot Jaune from the shoulders of Mathieu van der Poel.

Thanks to Van der Poel just edging Jonas Vingegaard for 2nd place at the finish line in Rouen, the Alpecin-Deceuninck leader and his UAE Team Emirates - XRG counterpart are currently tied for time at the top of the general classification standings. On countback however, Van der Poel just has the advantage over Pogacar, meaning the Dutchman carries on his stint in Yellow for another day.

The aforementioned Vingegaard then follows in 3rd overall at 8 seconds down, with his Team Visma | Lease a Bike teammate Matteo Jorgenson following in 4th at 19 seconds. White Jersey leader Kevin Vauquelin then completes the top at 26 seconds down.

As the time gaps push towards the minute mark already, Enric Mas is 6th (+48), Oscar Onley and Joao Almeida are 55 seconds down in 7th and 8th before Remco Evenpeoel (+58) and Mattias Skjelmose (+1:02) round out the top-10. Notably, Primoz Roglic now sits 13th at +1:27.
