Remco Evenepoel bounced back in style on stage 14 of the 2023
Vuelta a Espana, returning to his brilliant best by soloing to a spectacular stage win. Can he do the same again on stage 15?
“I think we should be very satisfied with yesterday's victory, but today is another opportunity," says the 2022 Vuelta a Espana winner in a pre-stage 15 interview with Het Nieuwsblad. The Belgian also now has another goal in mind. “We are going for it with the team. I'm going to try to keep up, then I can collect some points for the mountain jersey."
The disappointment of completely falling away from Red Jersey contention on stage 13 must have been hard to take for Evenepoel but he has responded as like the champion he is. “Who knows, I could win today's stage, it's a stage that should suit me," he says. "The Basque crowd also motivates me to make the best of today again. The most important thing remains to defend that mountain jersey, because I want to take it home.”
