For the second time in his career,
UAE Team Emirates sprinter Juan Sebastian Molano has taken a
Vuelta a Espana stage win, after edging out Green Jersey,
Kaden Groves in a bunch sprint on stage 12.
“I'm very happy to win now because coming back after that incident wasn't easy,” he said in his post-stage interview. “I feel very good and I am very happy. I would like to thank the team, everyone was great today. This win belongs to everyone on the team and my family. I am happy to win again in the Vuelta, after my stage victory last year.”
Despite Alpecin-Deceuninck doing almost all the work throughout the day, Molano popped up in the last few hundred metres to steal a march on Groves and take the win.
“We also have riders in the general classification, but the team has worked great for me," said Molano delightedly. "Marc Soler and Rui Oliveira in particular guided me well. We chose the right moment in the last corner. This victory is also for all Colombian fans.”
