Three Italian classics at the end of the summer and three different victories for Isaac del Toro. The Mexican who almost became the champion of Giro d'Italia earlier this year is unstoppable in the final stretch of this season and the situation was not any different at the Coppa Sabatini.
"Yes, I don't know, the truth is that it is not normal," he struggled for words speaking to media after the race. "I am too grateful to the team because they are always helping me, today it was more of a game, you didn't know who could win because we were all very even. However, look, in the end I won, I'm very happy, it's incredible for me and I know it's not normal."
Despite a large group of 17 riders with very dangerous men like Marc Hirschi (winner of the last two editions), Christian Scaroni or Richard Carapaz, Del Toro was not only the strongest this time as he had been in the Giro della Toscana and the GP Industria & Artigianato, he was also the smartest:
"Obviously we were all there together, we were being very cautious, we were watching each other, luckily there was me and Jan Christen and so we could play with the race. I'm happy because in the end we were able to get another win personally and for the team."
Speaking of victories, his team UAE Team Emirates - XRG is already on 83 triumphs in 2025. Their target; to break HTC-Columbia's record from 2009 with 85 victories is already within sight.

More racing in Italy

Del Toro was questioned about the fact that, despite not participating in the Vuelta a Espana, he is showing incredible legs in Italy: "I don't know what to tell you (laughs). Now we'll continue racing on the 13th (Memorial Marco Pantani) and 14th (Trofeo Matteotti)."
Will the Mexican star get all 5? With any other rider not-named Tadej Pogacar, we would say it's impossible. But seeing Del Toro racing and beating his rival with an utter ease, we can't rule it out anymore.
Further goal of this season are the World Championships in Kigali at the end of September. It is currently unclear whether the 21-year-old will compete in the individual time trial, but due to complications related to travelling to Africa, it is more likely that the sole focus will be road race on September 28. Over the 267.5 kilometers with well above 5.000 meters of climbing, Del Toro will attempt to make the defense of rainbow jersey as hard as possible to teammate Tadej Pogacar.
