After taking overall victory on the 2nd stage of La Vuelta Femenina, Charlotte Kool had to settle for runner-up on stage 3 although she's not too downhearted about missing out.
“The team was absolutely amazing,” said the Team DSM rider in a post-race interview. "Everyone was where they should be, the timing and cooperation were on fire. It was very special to experience and I am therefore disappointed that I was not able to finish it. Vos came up with more speed, she just had a faster sprint."
After beating Marianne Vos on stage 2, the legendary Dutchwoman gained revenge on stage 3 with Kool forced to settle for second. “We actually did everything right,” Kool continues. “We kept the pace high so we didn't have any attacks in the last five kilometres. The girls went all in and I can only be proud to be part of this great team. That feels very special."
“We had a good day as we were at the front where we needed to be. We can therefore be more than satisfied," adds Team DSM's Albert Tinner. "Of course we went for the win, but Vos was faster."
