"The results are not what we expected" - Carlos Rodriguez continues to fade in third week of 2024 Tour de France

Stage 19 of the Tour de France 2024 was tinged with negativity for the INEOS Grenadiers team, which saw its leader, Carlos Rodriguez, again lose time in the fight to climb positions in the general classification.

The Spaniard started the day 6th, with the goal of overtaking Mikel Landa (5th) and João Almeida (4th) in the overall in a tough day of high mountains with a finish atop Isola 2000. However, Rodriguez not only failed to do so, but ended up being dropped early again on the final climb, falling more than 2 minutes behind Landa in the standings.

After the stage, Carlos Rodriguez did not hide his disappointment: "The results are not what we expected even though the performance is good. I found again that the rivals were stronger than me. I gave my all, but I couldn't do anything else. At least I'm happy with the fact that I know I gave it my all."

"There are two stages left. I train and fight every day trusting in myself, that's why I do all this. The Tour de France is not over yet, let no one doubt that I'm going to keep trying and giving it my all," concluded Rodríguez.
