Tadej Pogacar returns to Liege-Bastogne-Liege this weekend, a race he's had mixed relationship with in recent seasons. Ahead of the monument however, the Slovenian is training hard.
As captured via the Instagram story of Pogacar's UAE Team Emirates teammate, Tim Wellens, they can be seen riding hard in the Monaco sun alongside Alessandro Covi, stopping off at a cafe and stepping up their preparations for a showdown with Mathieu van der Poel, Tom Pidcock and others. "When 1 hour turns into 4 hours, you know you have great teammates," writes Wellens as a caption for the post.
"Liege is one of my favourite races and also one of the hardest, so it’s always nice to go back there," said Pogacar previously as the UAE Team Emirates lineup for Liege-Bastogne-Liege was confirmed. "Since Catalunya I’ve spent some time at altitude with some teammates and we’ve been building up well together towards the Giro."
"For these Ardennes races we have a very dynamic team. The form is good and I think I can do well but on a whole the team is very strong and we’ll have options which is always an advantage. I’m excited to pin on a race number again on Sunday," he concluded.
