Tactical masterstroke sees Wout van Aert win stage 5 of the Tour of Britain for fifth straight Jumbo-Visma victory

For the fifth straight day, the day's racing at the Tour of Britain looked like ending in a bunch sprint. Wout van Aert had different ideas however, riding solo to the line in the final kilometre.

After four victories in the first four stages, Jumbo-Visma's Olav Kooij was odds-on once again on stage 5. With just three riders going up the road early on, the formula was set once again in a similar way to the previous days.

With 8km to go however, just as the break was being swallowed up, Jumbo-Visma took the wrong route on a roundabout and slipped right to the rear of the peloton. They made their way back though, and in the final kilometre, Wout van Aert rode clear and there was simply no stopping him as Jumbo-Visma continue to dominate.
