Steven Kruijswijk reacts after injury rules him out of the Tour de France: “Can't describe how disappointed I am"

Heartbreakingly for Steven Kruijswijk, his crash at the Critérium du Dauphiné has ruled him out of the upcoming Tour de France and now the Dutchman has reacted to the disappointing news.

"Can’t describe how disappointed I am… knowing that I was back on track for a great summer of racing," the 35-year-old wrote on his official Instagram account. "The past weeks I realized again how special this team and how lucky I’m to be part of it! Achieving great results, working towards new goals, sacrificing a lot, all for the believe to write history together!"

With Kruijswijk ruled out, Jumbo-Visma and Jonas Vingegaard have called in the services of their nominated first reserve, Wilco Kelderman. "For now it’s a big blow and I will try to recover asap from the injuries I have!" Kruijswijk continues on his Instagram post. "See you soon!"
