Stage 3 of the 2024 Tour of the Alps officially the coldest race day so far this year!

Cold, wet and damp the conditions on stage 3 of the 2024 Tour of the Alps this Wednesday can best be described as miserable. In fact, they are the worst conditions of the year so far.
According to a graphic shown on screen, the average temperature for the riders today is just 5 degrees Celsius, nearly a degree and a half colder than the previous record holder for 2024, which was Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Stage 4 of Tirreno-Adriatico and three days of racing from Paris-Nice are also included near the top of the list but nothing comes close to the misery on the roads this Wednesday.

Yeah, but 30 years ago you were almost always guaranteed snow in April, and how many Giro stages in May have been cut short because of awful weather? Maybe the article should have made more out of the surprisingly warm start we had to the season?

- Exactly, and with Mads in the running, a quartet would have been formed, TP and MVDP would have had to exhaust themselves more to shake off both Mads and Jasper although MVDP could have played his lead-out role for Jasper again (remember, it was he who broke Jasper, not Tadej and I don’t think Tadej would have risked countless attacks noticing an unbudging MVDP (who’d constantly pull Jasper with him without Jasper having to go into the red)). Any of the possible scenarios would NOT have favoured Tadej and in a 4-way sprint at the end his most likely place would then have been 4th. In the end he can count himself quite fortunate with his 2nd.
