Sep Vanmarcke will step up into the sports director role next year: "I am super motivated to get started"

Sep Vanmarcke, who had to put an end to his cycling career in July due to heart problems, will also be seen in the cycling peloton next year. Not as a rider, but as a sports director at Israel-Premier Tech.

Vanmarcke therefore said goodbye to his existence as a professional cyclist, but immediately announced that he wanted to remain active in the cycling world. "I'm going to take the time now to be with my family, put everything in place and think about what I want to do in the future. My whole life has revolved around cycling. Cycling will always be my passion."

From January 1, 2024, Vanmarcke will become team leader at his old employer Israel-Premier Tech. Among other things, the Belgian must pass on his experience in the classic field to the riders within the Israeli formation. Vanmarcke will replace Dirk Demol in the team of sporting manager Rik Verbrugghe, who will then move to Lotto-Dstny.

"I also see myself in other positions in this team in the future, but we will discuss that later," Vanmarcke said in a press release. "I am super motivated to get started."
