Red Bull gives women's cycling wings: Massive new sponsorship deal reported for FDJ United-SUEZ
Cycling
Red Bull is getting ready to make a huge investment in women's cycling. According to multiple sources from Cyclingnews, the famous energy drink company will become a title sponsor for the FDJ United-SUEZ team. As part of this massive deal, star rider Demi Vollering is expected to sign a new, long-term contract to stay as the team's leader.
The French team is already having an amazing season. Just this past Saturday at Strade Bianche, they took two spots on the podium: Elise Chabbey won the race, and Franzisca Koch finished third.
Their team leader, Demi Vollering, is also in top form. Even if she could not fight for the win in Italy, she has already won the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and took the overall victory at the Setmana Valenciana earlier this year. With Red Bull's money coming in, the team will only get stronger.

How the deal happened
Cyclingnews reported that Red Bull also talked with the SD Worx team before making their decision. It seems the bike brand Specialized helped connect Red Bull with the cycling world. Erwin Janssen, the CEO of Team SD Worx - Protime, confirmed that they had meetings with Red Bull. However, he mentioned that the energy drink brand ultimately decided to sponsor a French team.
When reporters found the boss of FDJ United-SUEZ, Stephen Delcourt, at the team bus before Strade Bianche, they asked him about the Red Bull news. He only had a very short answer to give: "No comment."
Even though he did not want to speak about it, other sources confirmed the news. In fact, one source said an FDJ United-SUEZ team car was seen at Red Bull's headquarters in Austria almost a year ago. This shows that this plan has been in the works for a long time. The deal is mostly finished, and Red Bull will probably be officially announced as a title sponsor before the Tour de France Femmes this summer.

Keeping control and building a "Super Team"
Stephen Delcourt owns the French team, and Cyclingnews reports that he will not hand over control of the team to Red Bull. Instead, Red Bull will simply add its name as a title sponsor alongside the French brands FDJ United and SUEZ.
Red Bull is famous for spending big money in sports. Last year, they took control of the men's Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team, giving them a massive budget to turn them into a "super team." Everyone expects them to do the exact same thing for the women's sport.
Delcourt has proven he is a great manager. He built FDJ United-SUEZ into one of the biggest teams in the women's peloton, and he convinced Vollering to join them in 2025. Even though Vollering did not win the Tour de France in 2024 or 2025 (she was second in both editions), she is still one of the biggest stars in the sport. Her fame has even brought her huge personal sponsors like Nike and Specialized.
Vollering's current contract ends this year, but Delcourt seems very confident that he can extend her deal. With Red Bull bringing in a massive budget, the French team's future looks incredibly bright.

- People see what they want to. I am actually the opposite of your accusation, probably more of a rebel than most of you who don’t get the big picture. The difference is, I don’t go moaning publicly about the consequences of my transgressions, I understand the need for rules and I take my OWN responsibility when deciding to ignore or break them or doing so involuntarily. I will also not hesitate to state my case or argue vehemently when relevant, sometimes it works, sometimes it makes things worse but that’s the price to pay for principles and having character.Jumpyjohn08-11-2026
- That may be but that was unknown to others and nothing says that’s the whole truth. Again, don’t try to misinterpret, it is a call and technically it is correct. Besides, even if there is a valid reason, that does not disqualify the ruling or punishment as far as the rules have been developed. I don’t think they’re as far as in football where for handball there is a distinction (in some ways and specific cases) between intentional or not. And football can be just as harsh and people live with it, eg the offside rule, also judged to within tiny fractions but often wrong or ignored. It’s the nature of every collective organisation and sometimes I wonder if our rebellion against it isn’t seated in the feelings we carry from the injustices we’ve felt personally, like being flashed driving 1km/h too fast when we are explained limits are just a security measure but we are absolutely certain not to have endangered anyone with our transgression. The problem is, nobody has better solutions and no 2 people have the same interpretation of where a limit should be.Jumpyjohn08-11-2026
- Because for you deviated implies the other rider MUST have been made to fall and fail to finish ??? I don’t know if you ride a bike but next time someone carves you up or drives dangerously close, just hold back from those feelings of changing something, reporting or filming or even complaining. Everyone will just say, hey you’re still here undamaged, doesn’t seem like anyone did anything.Jumpyjohn08-11-2026
