From the 28th of January to the 1st of February, the peloton will take on the Challenge Mallorca. The five-day event is split between five one-day races, each with very different courses and suited to different riders. This includes the
Trofeo Calvia,
Trofeo Ses Salines,
Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana,
Trofeo Andratx and
Trofeo Palma. Here's the
prize money that will be up for grabs on those days.
The five races are tightly connected, all raced in the island of Mallorca, and with opportunities for the climbers, puncheurs, sprinters - and this year even a team time trial, which will see some pretty
big names, including Remco Evenepoel, use the race as preparation for the Tour de France. This is, every year, a set of interesting races in which there are plenty favourites and the racing is more open than regular as the riders' fitness varies a lot, and there are lots of new members in the teams that force new adaptations and tactics.
The
Trofeo Calvia is raced on Wednesday the 28th January; the
Trofeo Ses Salines team time trial will be on Thursday the 29th January; the
Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana will be on Friday the 30th January; the
Trofeo Andratx - Pollença will be on Saturday the 31st January; and the
Trofeo Palma will be held on Sunday the 1st of February.
