POLL: Paris-Roubaix chicane; positive safety improvement or 'a joke'?

Race organisers of Paris-Roubaix 2024 sent the cycling world into a frenzy on Wednesday, announcing the addition of a chicane to the course before the race enters the famous Trouée d'Arenberg cobblestone section.

Since this reveal, everyone from riders, fans, analysts and influencers have all shared their opinions of the decision with it fair to say that there has been a somewhat mixed response. The likes of reigning Paris-Roubaix champion and pre-race favourite for this year, Mathieu van der Poel questioned the decision and asked "Is this a joke?"

On the other side of the coin, various big names have voiced their support for the addition with the likes of past winner, Niki Terpstra and Lidl-Trek star, Tim Declercq expressing their happiness at the perceived increase in rider safety.
