Israel - Premier Tech's Pascal Ackermann has taken the win at the 1st ever edition of Classic Dunkerque, denying Biniam Girmay in the final sprint and securing a boost to the confidence levels ahead of the upcoming 4 Jours du Dunkerque.
Heading into the final 50 kilometres, four riders remained out ahead of the peloton, those being: Abram Stockman (Unibet Tietema Rockets), Kenny Molly (Van Rysel Roubaix), Luca De Meester (Wagner Bazin WB) and Similien Hamon (CIC - U - Nantes). As the peloton began to ramp things up, the gap was gradually getting closer, and with just over 30km to go, the attackers had been swallowed up by the bunch.
With no further attacks managing to create any serious separation from there, it was a bunch sprint that decided the day in France. In the fight for the line, Bryan Coquard was the first to open things up, but as the Frenchman faded, Pascal Ackermann powered the victory ahead of Biniam Girmay and Alberto Dainese.
