Slovenian cycling sensation Tadej Pogacar is planning a special event to wrap up his 2025 season: a celebratory ride from his hometown to the summit of his favourite local climb, Krvavec. The friendly race, scheduled for October 12th, invites exactly 1,189 participants — symbolically matching the 1,189 metres of elevation they will conquer — to join the three-time Tour de France champion on a scenic but challenging ascent.
Starting in Komenda, Slovenian, where Pogacar grew up, the route will wind through picturesque countryside of the world champion's homeland, before finishing at the base of the Krvavec ski resort, a place that holds personal significance for the cycling star. Known for its panoramic views and steady gradients, the Krvavec climb is both a training staple and a sentimental favourite of Pogacar’s.
Organizers describe the event as a fun and inclusive celebration of cycling rather than a fiercely competitive race. Riders of various skill levels are encouraged to take part, making it a unique opportunity for fans to ride alongside one of the sport’s greatest ever athletes. Pogacar, known for his charismatic personality and connection with supporters, hopes the event will be a joyful end to the season and a way to give back to the cycling community that continues to cheer him on around the world.
